high pressure gas vessels are required in hydrogen refuelling stations

Perhaps the highest-profile hydrogen transport project announced so far is that for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The news that the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority will expand its bus fleet with hydrogen-powered vehicles in time for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games has been widely acclaimed.

The LA Metro has been awarded a $77.5m grant, as announced by Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. This will fund zero-emission buses, chargers and an expanded workforce. The ambition is to buy a total of almost 2,000 zero-emission vehicles.

The fact is that California has been leading the way in the US with hydrogen transport, and the majority of its refuelling stations benefit from FIBA high pressure storage, such as here at FirstElement Fuel, Inc.’s True Zero Studio City site.

Sports fans will be transported across the LA region for what is being called a ‘transit-first’ Games.
Here at FIBA we are excited that such a global event is spearheading the push towards hydrogen transportation.
