France-based global speciality materials developer Arkema has awarded FIBA Technologies a contract to supply 16 multi-element gas containers (MEGCs) for the transportation of boron trifluoride (BF3) in Europe.
FIBA is considered the world’s leading manufacturer of electronic-grade MEGCs which are in use by some of the world’s largest manufacturers and is the only producer offering the ‘Chem-Lite’ and DOT UN tubes.
For most gas services the DOT UN tubes provide operators with a 10-year requalification cycle rather than the 5-year retest offered by other manufacturers. The Chem-Lite tubes allow a greater payload, higher water volume, and less weight than those assemblies offered by others.
FIBA will begin delivering the 12-tube, 20ft MEGCs to Arkema in the early summer.
“The electronic-grade gas industry is a key market for FIBA,” says international sales manager JC Poussin. “Our ability to deliver MECGs with extremely high internal cleanliness levels, with low moisture content, and with leak-tight integrity is unmatched. Above all, with internal surface finishes as fine as a ‘mirror-like’, Ra 20 finish we can take moisture levels down to less than 1.0 ppm.”
